MGM + Gears Up Their Production Of STEPHEN KING’S THE INSTITUTE – Casting News Revealed

Upon release of the book back in September of 2019 (the same day actually) it was announced that Jack Bender, the brain trust behind LOST, had nabbed up the rights to produce it for TV – and tonight we know it will be heading to MGM +. They’ve had success with their horror programming with both Chapelwaite (based in a KING universe) and FROM – which is one of the best genre shows rocking.

We’ve also learned that Mary-Louise Parker and Ben Barnes will head the cast.

If you are not familiar with the story – THE INSTITUE tells the following tale:

“When 12-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped, he awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual abilities. In a nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson has come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as his story and Luke’s are destined to collide.”

The series will have 8 episodes – no info currently on when we might see it – I would suspect late 2025 if I were a betting man.
