The James Wan And Blumhouse Team Up M3GAN Finally Arriving In 2023

This one has been around in one form or another since 2018 – rumored to be starting, then pretty much vanishing from sight- until this week. Universal has announced that the project will finally get a theatrical release on Jan. 13th, 2023. Yep, that’s a Friday the 13th so – got to love the timing.

Wan created the story concept – and produced. Gerard Johnstone directed – Allison Williams stars.

Solid across the board.

Don’t really know much else about the production – but we do have a tantalizing synopsis.

“Gemma, a brilliant roboticist at a toy company who uses artificial intelligence to develop, M3GAN, a life-like doll programmed to be a kid’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype – a decision that has unimaginable consequences.”

Sounds like a techno spin on Child’s Play on the surface – and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.

I’m sure as we navigate through 2022 we’ll be getting much more info on this one but for now – it’s nice knowing this one is on the horizon.
