The last few years Kevin Smith has danced around the horror genre, first with Red State (an overlooked classic in my opinion) and then onto more straight forward horror weirdness with Tusk and Yoga Hosers – but he has never ventured into straight-up slasher territory – till now.
As part of SDCC Smith and his co-horts hosted a panel where he debuted the trailer for his next project – a horror anthology experience titled Killroy Was Here – and it looks like things are going to get “old school” bloody.
Digging the grindhouse vibe – and with Robert Kurtzman and his crew in charge of the FX work – you know it’s going to be stellar.
Smith explains it – “It’s got a theme that runs through it, and all these little stories that happen around [Killroy]. He’s kinda like a kid Avenger. If you fuck with kids, Killroy will show up. And he looks wonderfully goofy. Bald head and a nose that hangs over the fence. [Robert Kurtzman] designed something that’s kinda horrifying but it’s also goofy at the same time.”
The film is slated for an early 2021 release – looking forward to laying eyes on this one.
