Today’s Candyman update serves two purposes – first, to get you all stoked for the fact that our first look trailer will be hitting the net on Thursday, Feb. 27th – a tease, if you will of what treasures await us in a mere 48 hours.
The second thing you’ve got to know is – today we did get a new one-sheet poster – and it’s a sticky, messy, stabby good time. Most often than not – less is more and this new artwork is simplistic in its awesomeness – go ahead, have a look.

Very little is known – and even less is verified about this Jordan Peele produced venture – while not an actual remake, this film is said to share a direct story arc from the original – the official synopsis sort of confirms that.
“Anthony, a socially pronounced artist in Chicago who researches the urban legend of Candyman. After investigating the killer’s last known whereabouts, strange killings begin to occur around Anthony. The protagonist will serve a role similar to that of Helen Lyle, the main character of the original movie.”
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Teyonah Parris star and it’s been rumored that the one and only Tony Todd is involved in the project in some fashion. Fan interest is high – and with Jordan Peele behind the production and the script – that makes sense. Nia DaCosta directs from a script crafted by herself, Peele and Win Rosenfeld.
The flick opens June 12th and remember to check back on Thursday for that trailer.
