CBS All Access Retelling Of ‘The Stand’ Will Feature A Final Episode Penned By Stephen King

Some exciting news for those of us who live and breath awaiting huge Stephen King news – the final episode of the new series adaptation of his iconic killer virus story The Stand has been penned by the man himself – the author himself confirming this morning via social media that the deed is done and the episode is penned – from his Facebook page, the following quote – “The script for that final episode is written. I was glad Josh Boone gave me the chance, because that final story has been in my mind for 30 years.”

That quote brings up the second huge part of this amazing news – this final episode will in fact continue the tale beyond the ending of the original novel.

CBS All Access announced that King was going to pen the last episode of the nine-episode season one noting that it will provide “a new coda that won’t be found in the book”

CBS All Access EVP Julie McNamara offered the following – “For fans of the book who have wondered what became of the survivors of the stand, this episode will contain a story that takes us beyond the book to answer those questions” – she also notes that this news offers “A continuation to The Stand; we can’t wait to share that with the world.”

And the fans can’t wait to see it! It’s an exciting time to be a King fan!
