Those of you unfortunate enough to not live in NE Ohio may not be familiar with the name Michael Stanley and you know what – that’s just a damn shame. The great news is – in this era of easily accessible music – a quick check to YouTube, Amazon Music or Apple Music will open your ears to the wealth of music that this amazing musician has amassed. From the classic tracks of Stagepass through Cabin Fever, Greatest Hints and Heartland and then after MSB disbanded – his heartfelt solo efforts, Michael Stanley has lived, breathed and sung about life and love in the CLE.
Still selling out shows all over NEO – Micheal Stanley and his talented band of cohorts entertain and win over fans everywhere they perform. They actually have a show this weekend – in Youngstown – along with Donnie Iris and The Cruisers, reliving those amazing summer night at Blossom Music Center in the 80’s
But, before the music this weekend, Stanley got an honor of a different type – today the corner of Euclid Ave. and Huron became Michael Stanley Way. An amazing honor that serves as an exclamation point to an amazing career. Only thing left to accomplish is that spot in the Rock Hall.
Huge congratulations to Michael – for a lot of us who came of age in the late ’70s and early 80’s – his music was and continues to be the soundtrack to some of the best years of our lives. Time to roll down the windows – put on those sunglasses and blare My Town as we idle down Michael Stanley Way
