With the record-breaking success of IT over the course of the last few weeks – this news should really come as no surprise at all and since it comes directly from Stephen King himself – I don’t think we have worry about the legitimacy of the report. Here’s the quote from Mr. King. “There’s talk about doing The Stand as an extended TV series, possibly for Showtime or CBS All Access, and there’s been some interest in developing Salem’s Lot as a feature, probably because people are saying, “Well, we took an old miniseries called It and turned it into a phenomenon, so maybe we can do it with something else.” Nothing succeeds like excess!” So, what do you think? Do we need another TV adaptation of The Stand? Thinking I would rather see a two-part feature film type project but if they keep it in the cable realm – it could work out OK. Salem’s Lot may be deservent of its turn in the theatrical spotlight. Much like IT – the project would have large shoes to fill as the origianl mini-series certainly holds an iconic status for most fans. One thing for sure – whomever is backing these projects is going to want to move quickly to ride the coat tails of the unbelieveable success of IT – either of these projects could get greenlit and pushed into production on the fly.
