A second trailer has dropped for Universal’s reboot of The Mummy, which is expected to be the first picture in their planned Universal Monsters Universe. The Tom Cruise vehicle is slated to open June 9, 2017.
The first trailer was a bit heavy on the action-adventure side of things, giving off a Mission Impossible (Mummy Impossible?) feeling. In this one, they do showcase some more horror-related elements, though it still feels like those sequences might take a back seat to the action. Universal has stated that they want to take the franchise back to its horror roots. From this trailer, it is a little unclear if that is the direction they are really taking. It looks like we will have to wait until June 9, 2017 to see which way it goes.
Princess Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella) surveys the pyramids. The Mummy (Sofia Boutella) appears to be commanding an army of rats.It looks like The Mummy is not alone in being undead in the film.
