This is one of those projects that I feel I’ve been talking about for years. I honestly don’t remember how long it’s been but it seems like forever – well over a year I’m guessing. The good news is – if what I’m seeing on this trailer holds true, it has more than been worth the wait. So, how do we describe XX? Actually, the official synopsis from Magnolia Pictures does a damn fine job of doing just that – let’s have a look. “XX is a new horror anthology with a gender twist — all segments will be helmed by female directors and will star female leads. The directors have been given free creative rein within budget and time constraints, but all of the segments themselves will involve the horror genre.” So, who is all involved you ask? Got that info right here. Director wise we have Karyn Kusama, Roxanne Benjamin, Annie Clark, and Jovanka Vuckovic. That right there is one impressive line-up of directors. Starring in these assorted segments of insanity are Melanie Lynskey, Natalie Brown, Angela Trimbur, Mike Doyle, Christina Kirk, Kyle Allen, Peyton Kennedy, Peter DaCunha, Ron Lea, Jonathan Watton, Lisa Renee Pitts, and Morgan Peter Brown. Alright, now that we’ve got all that out of the way – let’s have a look at the handiwork.
Magnolia Films has their timing right – this one hits theaters, VOD and digital platforms on Feb. 17th. Right smack dab in the middle of Women In Horror Month.
