Darren Bousman’s “Abattoir” (2016) Heading to VOD December 9, 2016 from Momentum Pictures

For the past few episodes of Horror News Radio, The Black Saint has been championing the NEW YORK CITY HORROR FILM FESTIVAL and one of the films showing that weekend is Darren Bousman’s ABATTOIR. News has dropped today that the film has been picked up by Momentum Pictures and will be released on VOD on December 9, 2016. If you are a fan of Mr. Bousman’s work (Saw II, III and IV), then you have the opportunity to catch the film a month earlier at the NYCHFF before it comes out in December. We at Horror News Radio are looking forward to it; if it is good enough for NYCHFF, it is good enough for us! MOMENTUM PICTURES TAKES ON DARREN BOUSMAN’S “ABATTOIR” LOS ANGELES — Oct. 18, 2016 — Momentum Pictures announced today that it has acquired North American rights to the horror film “Abattoir,” which is set to release in theaters, VOD and Digital HD on Dec. 9, 2016. Written by Christopher Monfette (12 Monkeys) and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (The Saw Series), the film stars Jessica Lowndes (The Prince), Joe Anderson (Hercules), Lin Shaye (Insidious Series) and Dayton Callie (Sons of Anarchy). Momentum Pictures’ Senior Vice President of Content Ian Goggins made the announcement today. “We’re fans of Darren Bousman’s body of work in the horror genre so we couldn’t be more thrilled to work with him on ‘Abattoir,’” said Goggins. “The film has unique twists and turns that will leave audiences at the edge of their seats.” “Abattoir has been a labor of love for all of us involved,” said Bousman. “It is an honor to partner with a distribution team who not only understands the genre, but are actual fans of it.” Based on the Radical Publishing 6-issue comic book mini-series created by Bousman, “Abattoir” world-premiered at this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival in the Nightfall section and has screened in a dozen festivals this summer, winning Best in Festival at the Hot Springs Horror Festival. The film centers on a real estate reporter (Jessica Lowndes) who unearths an urban legend about a house being built from rooms where horrific tragedies have occurred. The investigation ultimately leads her and ex-lover Detective Declan Grady (Joe Anderson) to the enigmatic Jebediah Crone (Dayton Callie) and the answer to the question, “How do you build a haunted house?” “Abattoir” is produced by Jesse Berger (Oblivion) and Brent C. Johnson (Lost in America) under Radical Studios’ genre label Dark Web Productions. Billy Hines serves as Co-Producer. The film is executive produced by Lynwood Spinks, Kevin Niu, Robert Cain, Michael Yedwab, Steve Ponce, and Trevor Allen. Abattoir was financed by Lumenova Entertainment, Pacific Bridge Pictures and Ingenious Media. The deal was negotiated on behalf of Momentum Pictures by Sejin Croninger, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Acquisitions for Entertainment One, and by Verve Ventures and Rosen Law Group on behalf of the filmmakers. Bousman is represented by Verve, Andrew Wilson at Zero Gravity Management and Tanya Mallean at Skrzyniarz & Mallean. About Momentum Pictures, an Entertainment One Company Momentum Pictures is focused on distributing multiplatform film, television and special interest content in the U.S. and around the world. abattoirposter
