[Teaser] Director Mike Flanagan Is Taking CARRIE To The Prom, This Time As A Series
When it comes to adapting Stephen King, arguably, no one does it better than Mike Flanagan. He’s built a career based on that ability, and the next endeavor brings one of King’s most beloved tales to series format for the first time.
CARRIE will be debuting on Amazon Prime on Oct. 7th, and our first look just dropped via a teaser trailer.
The eight-episode series, written by Flanagan, who also serves as showrunner, will follow King’s tale while also bringing it into the modern era. The synopsis via the press release:
“Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret.
After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.
Told over eight propulsive episodes, the series expands King’s cultural landmark, deepening its characters and tensions. It follows the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night, in a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated.”
Summer H. Howell plays Carrie, with the rest of the cast rounding out as follows:
- Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White
- Siena Agudong as Sue Snell
- Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen
- Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross
- Josie Totah as Tina
- Arthur Conti as Billy
- Thalia Dudek as Emaline
- Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardin
- Matthew Lillard as Principal Grayle
Remember, Oct. 8th. Lots of great genre TV coming up, so make sure to add this one to your watch list.
