Mike Flanagan Returning To Blumhouse – And A “Radical New Take” On A Classic Franchise Is On The Way

Today’s major breaking genre news leaves me conflicted. I love pretty much everything that Mike Flanagan has graced with his Midas touch – but it leaves me wondering – will this be the one that derails the streak?

It is being reported that Flanagan is on board to write, direct, and produce the next chapter in THE EXORCIST and according to those in the know it will be a “radical new take” on things – and while it will be set in the EXORCIST universe – it will not be associated with the latest endeavor – THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER.

Flanagan appears to have a fondness for the original stating – “The Exorcist is one of the reasons I became a filmmaker, and it is an honor to have the chance to try something fresh, bold, and terrifying within its universe, “Reuniting with my friends at Blumhouse, with whom I’ve made some of my favorite pieces of work, only makes this more exciting.“

In all honesty – if anyone can repair the road that Blumhouse started down with BELIEVER, it’s Flanagan and if nothing else – it will be beyond interesting to see what the man comes up with.
