Based on the Stephen King short story – CHILDREN OF THE CORN has been a film franchise that just refuses to stop trying. The original film starred Linda Hamilton, right around the time she broke as a big star in THE TERMINATOR, and Peter Horton, who a few short years later would be on the very popular show THIRTYSOMETHING. When it hit cable – it found its fan base and what followed was no less than nine sequels, although most were in name only – not to mention a remake in 2009 and now, a new remake. An impressive run, no way to deny it.
Today we got the red band trailer for the new film, and it seems to have taken things in a bit of a different direction – have a look.
Written and directed by Kurt Wimmer – the film stars Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, and Bruce Spence and tells the following tale:
“Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a twelve-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival.”
This one will be ready for harvest sooner than later – March 3rd is the release date.
