Based on the synopsis provided – THE BOOGEYMAN will loosely be based on a Stephen King tale from the Night Shift collection of short stories. The project has gone through several writers’ hands but seems to have finally found a home at Hulu – which has had good success in bringing King adaptations to their streaming service.
They also announced that the project has found its director in Rob Savage – who is no stranger to the genre. Story-wise, THE BOOGEYMAN will tell the following tale.
“Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”
If you’re familiar with King’s tale at all – you’ll notice that the above synopsis has very little to do with the short story that appeared in Night Shift but – that’s not gonna stop this on.
Production is slated to start sometime this winter in New Orleans – no confirmation on any cast but – as things wind up, we’ll drop updates.
