Renny Harlin Heads Back To Horror With His Next Project ‘The Refuge’

Renny Harlin has quietly amassed a rather impressive slate of memorable films – I’ll leave it up to you to decide for what reason they are memorable. Personally – I’ve always found myself attracted to his film-making – how can you not love ANOES 4 – The Dream Master, or Deep Blue Sea, and I mean come on Cliffhanger! I like a lot of his stuff – and it’s rather exciting to be able to report that his recently announced “next project” is a genre film.

Titled The Refuge – we’re going to get the following tale:

“Sergeant Rick Pedroni, who comes home to his wife Kate changed and dangerous after suffering an attack by a mysterious force during combat in Afghanistan. Officials say her husband suffered a heavy brain injury, but Kate knows it is more than PTSD. As Rick undergoes unsettling therapy with other traumatized soldiers, Kate discovers he has been possessed by a malevolent spirit.”

Still, very early in its developmental stage – we do know that The Refuge will be filmed in Bulgaria starting in April from a script penned by Ben Sztajnkrycer. Casting is underway as you read this.

Updates as information warrants.
