One of the best adaptations of a Stephen King novel ever! That’s this horror fans opinion – and it went largely unnoticed because it aired on a goofy network to which literally no one subscribed. It showed some signs of life after hitting home video – and the free streaming service Hoopla – which is run by your local library, started streaming it but still – the majority of fans missed it. It is Mr. Mercedes and the good news today is that NBC’s streaming service Peacock has picked it up and will start streaming the first two seasons on Oct. 15th – and better yet – the third season will then hit just a little down the line.
If you were a fan of the HBO series The Outsider – this story also features Holly Gibney – and personally, I preferred the portrayal on this series by Justine Lupe over the one turned in by Cynthia Erivo on The Outsider. At its heart though – the story focuses on Bill Hodges, played by Brendan Gleeson as he hunts serial killer Brady Hartsfield – portrayed by Harry Treadaway. The cast is stellar – the story is great. I love this series.
I’m not sure if the third season ever even aired – I know I never have seen it – and I’m pretty sure it never made the trip to home video so when Peacock gets around to airing it – that will be a wonderful thing.
Remember – you can catch the first two seasons starting Oct. 15th – and I highly recommend you do. When word drops that season three is hitting – I’ll let you know.
