A New Podcast Will Take Us Deep Into The World Of ‘Stephen King’s The Stand

Stephen King’s epic end of the world tale The Stand kind of changed my life a bit – I have always been a book nerd but The Stand, it took over my life – I literally could not put the book down and the friends that I made via the characters in that book are still with me today.

For those of us who get it – who not only read Stephen King but – live Stephen King, the opportunity to spend time with a group of folks who not only “get it” as well but – want to share their personal insights on how and why it affects them, in the same way, is that of a dream.

In what I consider to be a stroke of genius – Jason Sechrest, Mike Flanagan, Tananarive Due, and Anthony Breznican will take us all on an in-depth ride into the novel. Titled The Company Of The Mad – The Stand Podcast – each month the four hosts will read and then dissect 200 pages of King’s impressive tome.

From the podcasts webpage:

“The idea is that the four of us will read 200 pages a month, and then meet up on the podcast to discuss what we just read. Sort of like a virtual book club, but one the whole world can join in,” says Sechrest, horror author and writer of the popular column What I Learned from Stephen King. Sechrest will serve as the host of the podcast, guiding the conversation. “We’ll be encouraging listeners to join us in #TheStandChallenge, committing to reading 200 pages a month and letting us know their thoughts. We’ll also be encouraging them to donate to The EMS FDNY HelpFund, benefiting first responders of New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Oh, hell yeah – I am so there!
