One of the best “nature is out to get you” flicks ever made was Grizzly – the 1976 killer bear classic that still manages to entertain all these decades later. The film was successful enough that a sequel was ordered – mostly filmed and then due to a whole series of assorted drama – was left to age on a dusty shelf somewhere.
Featuring a cast of now – A list – actors, Grizzly II: Revenge features a storyline that has a killer bear stalking a rock concert – the synopsis breaks it down:
“All hell breaks loose when a 15-ft grizzly bear, reacting to the slaughter of her cub by poachers, seeks revenge and kills anyone that gets in her way. In the 3 days before the major concert taking place in Yellowstone National Park, the gigantic grizzly has brutally attacked campers Ron (George Clooney), Tina (Laura Dern) and Lance (Charlie Sheen), poachers and a park ranger. The terror doesn’t end there as the giant grizzly bear finds its way to the concert grounds to go on a killing spree.”
Did you catch that cast? George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, Laura Dern, plus Louise Fletcher, John Rhys-Davies, Dick Anthony Williams, Jack Starrett, Charles Cyphers, and Deborah Foreman. Now that is a kick-ass cast!
So, Grizzly II will finally be seeing the light of day. A new producer hunted down all the footage – then shot some fresh footage to fill in the holes – and voila – we got ourselves a feature sequel 40 years after it was shot. Got a trailer to prove it – hang on to your hats – let’s give this one a ride!
How fantastic is that!
A screening of the completed film was just screened on the West Coast and here’s hoping that someone picks this bad boy up quickly and gets it into our hands.
