‘Rat Man’ Becomes ‘Rat Woman’ As Fiona Dourif Joins The Cast Of ‘The Stand’

Things are moving right along on Josh Boone’s adaptation of The Stand for CBS All Access – and as things progress, little tidbits of casting information slip out of the production. For instance – it was just confirmed that Fiona Dourif has joined the cast – in a rather interesting way.

Seems she’s been cast as Rat Woman – now, don’t go grab your old copy of the classic Stephen King novel to flip through the well-worn pages to find the character because as us “constant readers” are well aware – no such character exists. We should all, however, recall Rat Man – the Walking Dude’s creepy henchman in both the book – and the original mini-series. Rat Man meets up with Randall Flagg when Flagg sets up his headquarters of evil in Las Vegas.

For this new version – Dourif will play that same character – and that sounds all good. She is an exceptional actress and I personally love the new dynamic that changing the gender of that character brings.

We still don’t have a firm release date for this 10 episode season but a late 2020 release is expected.
