CBS Commits To New ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’ TV Project – ‘Clarice’

Given the popularity of the other Thomas Harris inspired TV series Hannibal over at NBC a few years back, I’m kind of surprised it’s taken this long for another studio to latch onto the idea of bringing us more from that universe.

But, CBS has taken that plunge, they have announced CLARICE – which will follow the life and times of Clarice Starling after the events of The Silence Of The Lambs. Reports indicate the series will kick off in 1993 – the year after the events of Lambs and will follow her exploits as she heads back out to catch even more serial killers and assorted other sickos.

Producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet announced the projects as follows:

“After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes – Clarice Starling, Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”

A pilot has been ordered and a script is ready to go – so we should be seeing this one go in front of the lens anytime. No word on who will play Clarice – or if we can expect any surprise visit from everyone’s gourmet cannibal – but I’ve got a feeling we’ll be finding out all about that stuff soon.
