John Travolta has never been one to shy away from a difficult or unusual role – and it appears as if the directorial debut from Fred Durst has allowed Travolta to play a character the likes of which he has never tackled before.
The film was known as MOOSE for a long time but now that a release is eminent – the title has been changed to The Fanatic. Ready to have a look at what they’ve come up with?
Durst drew on personal experience for this one – the Limp Bizkit frontman had his own stalker issue back in the day – that served as the catalyst for his directorial debut.
Although the trailer sets the stage pretty well – here’s the synopsis to give you the written breakdown.
“Moose (played by John Travolta), who gets cheated out of meeting his hero, Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa; Idle Hands, Final Destination). Moose then hunts down Dunbar to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves. Harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn. Against the advice of his friend Leah (Ana Golja), Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero’s private home. As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.”
The Fanatic hits theaters, digital and VOD on Aug. 30th.
