Hell Hath No Fury Like A Teddy Bear Scorned – ‘Teddy Bears Are For Lovers’ Coming To The Big Screen

The Joe Dante produced short film Teddy Bears Are For Lovers has been floating around for a few years.   The silly, fun and surprisingly effective short film certainly has the Gremlins vibe although for me – I get more of a TED meets Chucky vibe.   Anyway – the reason we are talking about a 2-year-old short film is that it just got green lit to be made into a feature film.   That’s right – 90 minutes of cute, bloody thirsty, stuffed fun.

Michael Bonvillain has been brought on board to direct – his past escapades include serving as cinematographer for LOST and the original Cloverfield.

The basic premise of things is a man has to fight for his life when all the Teddy Bears he’s ever given to ex-girlfriends come hunting for him and well – I think you can put the rest of it together from there.

The most interesting tidbit to come from all of this is that the nasty ass Teddy Bears may end up coming to us via the amazing folks over at Weta Studios – yeah, Peter Jackson’s Weta Studios.   Now we’re talking!

If you’ve never seen the original short film – you can take care of that right now.   It’s a fun little romp.

So, what do you think?   Feature film material?   Sound off and let us know what you think.   In the meantime – I’ll keep an eye on this one and let you know how it progresses.
