“Annabelle: Creation”: Trailer Drops for the Prequel to Spin-off of “The Conjuring”

Annabelle: Creation

Here is the first trailer for Annabelle: Creation,  the prequel of  Annabelle (2014) which itself is a spin-off of  The Conjuring (2013). It looks to be an origin story for the creepy doll featured in  Annabelle. It is directed by David F. Sandberg, who directed last year’s hit  Lights Out (2016), and stars Miranda Otto, Stephanie Sigman, Anthony LaPaglia, and Talitha Bateman. Creature-performer-extraordinaire Javier Botet is reportedly in the film as well.

There are some nice jumps scares in the trailer as well as some genuinely creepy moments. The first  Annabelle did not exactly “wow” critics (Metacritic: 37, Rotten Tomatoes: 29), though it did gross $84 million on a $6.5 million budget. If  Annabelle: Creation lives up to the promise of this trailer, perhaps it can surpass its predecessor. The film opens August 11, 2017.
