Over the years, a number of short films have been expanded into feature projects, some more successful than others. Recent examples include Mama (2013) and last year’s Light’s Out (2016). Dimension Films hopes to capture some of that short-to-feature magic by developing Lars Klevberg’s award-winning short Polaroid (2015) into a feature of the same name.
The original short does not appear to be available online, but here is the short’s trailer:
It looks pretty creepy. Here is the official synopsis of the feature:
From the producers of The Ring and The Grudge, comes the next iconic horror franchise: Polaroid. High school loner Bird Fitcher has no idea what dark secrets are tied to the Polaroid vintage camera she stumbles upon, but it doesn’t take long to discover that those who have their picture taken meet a tragic end. Based on the short by Lars Klevberg, the story mixes elements of The Ring and Final Destination to create one of the most unique and scary films.

The film looks to have a pretty good cast, with many faces familiar to genre fans, including Kathryn Prescott (The Hive (2015)), Mitch Pileggi (Shocker (1989), The X-Files (1993)), Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks (1990)), and Javier Botet ([REC] (2007), The Conjuring 2 (2016)).
Polaroid is currently shooting in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is slated to open August 25, 2017.

Dimension Films has started production on the horror thriller Polaroid, directed by and based on the award-winning short by Lars Klevberg.
