The post-apocalyptic, sci-fi zombie thriller The Girl with All the Gifts (2016) is coming to home video (Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, and Digital HD) on April 25, 2016. M.R. Carey wrote the script based on his own Edgar Award-winning short story Iphigenia in Aulis. The feature directorial debut of Colm McCarthy, it stars Glenn Close (Yes, that “Glenn Close”), Gemma Arterton,  and Paddy Considine and tells the tale of a young girl who may just be humanity’s last hope after the proverbial zombie apocalypse.

Humanity has been all but destroyed by a fungal disease that eradicates free will and turns its victims into flesh eating “hungries.” Only a small group of children seems immune to its effects.  At an army base in rural England, these unique children are being studied and subjected to cruel experiments.  When the base falls, one little girl escapes and must discover what she is, ultimately deciding both her own future and that of the human race.

How good is it? Some members of The Grue-crew call it “an exception film that promises to make a few top ten lists come next December” and “the first must-see film of the year.” They discuss it at length in the “What You’ve Been Watching” segment of Horror News Radio Episode 200.
