As I mentioned just a few short days ago – the full trailer for The Mummy – the first in what will be a series of tied together reboots of the classic Universal Horror franchise – made its debut during Sunday night’s airing of The Walking Dead. Opinion has been swift and varied. Have you had a look yet? If not – remedy that right now.
June 9th is when we’ll all be piling into the theaters for this one. Here’s the official synopsis from Universal:
“Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.”
A little too much emphasis on the action and not enough on the horror – for this horror fan. What say you? You like where they are heading with things? Sound off – would love your opinion.
