Listen up, Grue-believers, you are in a movie – a gory, action-filled, over-the-top grue-fest. Did you know that? Ha! The film is called HARDCORE and it is gaining tons of buzz at TIFF this year. The film takes found footage to a new level, playing out like a violent POV video game. The Sci-Fi film boasts itself being “the world’s first POV action film.” And, from the trailer, it looks like it succeeds. It looks extraordinary.
The effect places the audience into the role of Henry, a cyborg thrown into a action-packed mystery. The film has Henry facing off against Akan (Danila Kozlovsky) an insane, villainous psycho with telekinetic powers. With only Jimmy (Sharlto Copley) at his side, Henry must fight his way through Akan’s army of mercenaries to save his wife and “creator” Estelle (Haley Bennet). And, by Henry, the film means “YOU!” Hardcore is from writer/director Ilya Naishuller and is produced by Timur Bekmambetov. Check it out!
