[Podcast] Final Girl – Cub – Episode 126 – Horror News Radio

Abigail Breslin and Wes Bentley star in FINAL GIRL from director Tyler Shields as a pair of mysterious outlaws who focus their attention on a band of murderous maniacs preying on helpless young women. It is one bad ass chick against four insane psychopaths as Breslin proves you don’t want to mess with the … final girl.

Dave begins the  HORROR NEWS OF THE WEEK segment with a heavy heart as he – and the rest of the Grue-Crew – share their memories of the late Wes Craven, the meistro behind Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream and many more. R.I.P. In the What Have You Been Watching block the Norwegian film Cub grabs the everyone’s attention  while Joseph Perry returns with two reviews from the BiFan Internation Film Festival: Turbo Kid  and Deathgasm.

Co-hosts  Doc Rotten,  Santos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr.,  Dave Dreher,  Thomas Mariani  and  Vixen, the voice of reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week!  Wait, is that Stump the Saint?!

Review: Final Girl  (2015)

Dave Dreher says it best during the podcast review, “Somewhere in this mess is a great story.” Final Girl featuring Abigail Breslin, Wes Bentley, Alexander Ludwig and Logan Huffman attempts to build something uniquely interesting, but – to quote Dave once again – “fails miserably.” The Grue-Crew  hack and slash away at the film questioning the dialog, the lighting, the logic and – with all due apologies – Wes Bentley. Check out the review, we will give you a five minute head start.

What Have You Been Watching: Cub  (2015)

Originally titled Welp, the Norwegian film dubbed Cub in the States follows the story of young Sam, a troubled cub scout on a camping trip with his troupe. Once at the camp ground, Sam discovers the legend of Kai may very well be true when he encounters a feral young boy hiding – and killing – in the woods. The Grue-Crew recommend the film for its imagination, ballsy attitude, creative traps and its young star, Maurice Luijten.

Festival Report: BiFan  (2015) w/ Turbo Kid  & Deathgasm

International HNR Reported Joseph Perry returns with another BiFan International Film Festival update featuring reviews of two more extraordinary horror movies. This week he digs into the Canadian gore-fest, Turbo Kid, and the heavy-metal horror comedy from New Zealand,  Deathgasm.

Dave shares the Horror News of the Week with the sad news of the passing of another horror legend, Wes Craven. The Grue-Crew share their favorite Wes Craven films and memories of first seeing a Wes Craven movie.  In TV news, AMC announces a stand alone Fear the Walking Dead episode, but all is not exactly as it seems. Bill Murray goes on the record about his Ghostbusters cameo supporting the film, its director Paul Fieg and its all-female cast. Rounding out the news, the Grue-Crew share their reaction to the upcoming Thanksgiving 2015 genre release Victor Frankenstein.
